Agree, remove it first...much better job and you can clean the cylinders outer shell nicely. I couldn't believe the amount of sand/dirt that was located on top of each cylinder, which can/does fall into the locking portion of the cylinder through the rear opening.

Only thing I might add...is...rest a magnet against your Allen-head wrench as you remove the cap screw (under the rubber plug, in door jam, above the door latch mechanism) that holds the lock...or you may be taking the door panel off to retrieve it...and its lock washer...and its flat washer. Does this sound like advice from a guy that has "been there, done that" or what...lol.

The magnet trick works well for installing the cap screw, also.

The jager window switch decals were a great purchase... but I'm thinking the 3M vinyl will stick a bit better since it's used in professional car wraps and can be heated with a heat gun to conform to edges. I'll post pictures when I finally attempt it.
