Default What is this flap / door?

In the process of trying to trace the lines for my charcoal canister re-hosing, and I noticed that there seems to be a flap/door on the left / passenger side of the firewall that has a hinge on the top and is attached above by 2 rubber grommets.

I snapped some pics of the inside the best I could with my phone but there doesn't seem to be any magic inside.

Any thoughts/ideas as to what it's for? More curious at this point than anything.

this drains water from the base of the windshield. if it gets blocked the water will build up and leak inside

So, is that flap a "clean-out" door?

??

It is the drain....for all the water off the windshield which runs into the cowl area. You clean from above after CAREFULLY removing the thin black plastic partial cover .....

Yes, Keep it clean of dirt, debris, gunk, leaves (most likely), etc. which build up there over time, otherwise a really wet day may have water overflow into the re-circ flap, AKA your Central Electric board.
