86 Euro
School me on the 86 Euro - pipe organ intake. 32 valve interference engine, and so forth. What are the differences between it and a US version? Also, is there such a thing as an 86.5 Euro?

It was a green option for emissions I recall the Swiss seemed to require it. Some versions were lower compression. Think the Australians got some of those as well.... horsepower was slightly lower I believe. Was a pretty rare option in 86. ALL EURO 1986 models had the S-4 brakes and suspension. Only the first 1,000 USA 1986 models got left over 1985 parts and that lead to the term 1986 1/2 ....

Thanks folks. The one I am aware of has the pipe organ intake, and therefore I assume it is the 32 valve engine.

The Euro 32v engine (organ pipe MM28/45/46 9.3:1 CR) was rated 288HP and was sold as standard in Australia and to special order in Germany and Austria.

has to be very rare given that there was no longer a big disparity in horsepower Euro to USA PLUS in 1987 the old body style was.....OLD !! The certification labs doing the "federalization" had also gotten very expensive....making the economics much worse.

The 16v non cat cars were the norm in Europe. In Germany the 32v cat equipped cars were given reduced road tax compared to the non cat cars.
Even so 32v are rare in Europe, and I've never seen one in England. There was one some years ago, owned by a US airman at one of the East Anglian Air Force bases. I expect he probably took that one back to the USA with him.

We did a write up on a 86 Euro with the 32 valve engine way back (first issue of the 928 forum). I've got the article somewhere...or maybe someone can post it up here?
Ran across that same car at the 2014 OCIC up in Calgary. Still looking good...

Wonder how many of those are floating around the U.S.? That would be quite a find.
All 86 ROW cars either 16v or 32v had the S4 suspension and brakes.
