New hella washer pump arrived today for the headlight washer system. However the clamp to hold the old one in place is way too big for the new hella pump. Has anybody experienced this? Question is if I order a new clamp will it be as big as the one I already have or will it fit the new hella pump. I see that the original pump part number which is on my old pump is not in the PET anymore and that they only list the hella number....

That car looks superb, and oh so pure and original. That year and colour with pascha, was the car that was given the 1978 car of the year award U.K. I think John Vaughan owns it now,
Regarding the yellow lenses, they were regulation in France.

You have that car looking super fantastic! Interior looks to be in pretty nice shape, did you redo the steering wheel?...looks great.

Is it my imagination...or do the rear seat belt material have gray stripes mixed in with the black.

You've really got me hankering to get my phone dials redone and set up with new rubber.

Thanks, yes I believe I have seen it on discovery once. Unfortunately I had to switch to clear lenses on the parking lights due to Norwegian regulations.

Thanks I think you are referring to the left front seat belt, there rear ones are just placed next to the seat in their holders. What you are seeing it the seams that have sort of different patterns, which comes off as grey stripes in the image. They are all black, but you can see stripes from the different threading or what I should call it.

Yes, I had the steering wheel sent off an re-trimmed by a professional after my specs I wanted it to be as close to original as possible, so he used traditional cross-stiching and he did it without any "re-cover type of set". I was really satisfied with his work, I was not satisfied based on the first images he sent, and I was honest about that. Then he re-did the wheel him self (as manager) without any cost. Really good service and price was not too bad either for it being in Norway.

With all this nice feedback I guess it is time to drop the bomb, the one thing that still keeps me up at night Two years a go when checking for the engine code, low an behold it is M28/01 type as it should be, but the number is way to high to be the correct one for my VIN
It is 819 1640, which means it must be a 79 engine. The car seems really original throughout so I had noe reason to suspect it, also most other parts in engine is stamped early date, so might be just the block that is changed. At least the engine runs like a charm, but of course this destroys the value quite significantly.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over that too much, you have still nailed an exceptional 928 in the purest form , good luck with it .

If the old washer pump is no longer available, and you have to use the smaller diameter new one...I'm sure you could flatten out the end and manipulate the shape around the smaller motor, then cut it shorter and drill a new hole.

Granted, if you want to keep it orginal...you could look for a good used motor.

Still love your car regardless of the engine issue.

For others who might be wondering, if you order the clamp for the washer pump you get the one for the original pump which is NLA. Funny enough. So since my original pump appears to be working I will go for re-using that only replacing gasket and sanding it down and doing a re-spray to get rid of some rust.

I got a good laugh when I opened the package from Porsche today, ordered the short hose from the filler neck to the washer tank and look what I got! No wonder the shipping costs were high. I guess I can sell many of these now

Anybody know the details about the seatbelt warninglight system?
I do not have the contact and wire on my seatbelt buckle, so I am buying one who has. But now I am beginning to wonder if this was a US thing only. Seems it only switches off audible sound, and that perhaps Euros only had the 6sec visible alarm. Anybody knows if there is a difference here US vs Euro or early vs late spec cars.

Thanks, will do The radio I bought after I had the car for some years, bought it on german ebay and paid quite a lot. But I felt it was worth it as they are up for sale so seldom.

Regarding seatbelt buckle, seems as far as I can read, though my German is not that good, like the audible alarm is only described in the US user manual. This leads me to believe that the European cars only had the visual warning for the seatbelt, which shows for some seconds after ignition is on and that the buzzer part of the relay is not in use.

Strange thing is the buckle does not seem to be tagged with US in the PET diagrams. I am awaiting feedback for another guy with Euro 78 to see if his buckle has the wire and contact, if not I am guessing mine is original.

FYI Jørn my 80 928S has no seat belt warning or chime fitted, think that was GB specification only ?
