Default Overheating prob solved

.I installed new thermostat when I did the top end two months ago and I thought my engine was running a little hot. Just below the third line form the bottom It never overheated but I only drove it 10 miles at a time.. Then I started to lose antifreeze , I could not find a leak nothing driping anywhere, then finally I noticed antifreeze poring out the overflow tube on the reservour tank.. I tested the cap it was bad bought a new 16 lb cap. Autozone and same thing I felt the lower hose on the rad it was cold ,so I removed the thermostat and tested it opened under extream heat only,. I gutted the thermostat and reinstalled basically I am running Thermostat delete right now. engine runs at the first bar about one !/4 up the gauge.. I will order new thermostat from Roger tomorrow,, I just bought the set of Porken chips for my 85 5 speed , From Ken , But that is another project I have to now find the other parts( s4 fuel regs x pipe ect) to make the transition into street monster..

Mark you really need the thermo stat to close the recirculation port......928s can not run without one !! the coolant partially just recirculates and never sees the radiator.

What is extreme heat mean? The thermostat only opens when the coolant is pretty hot. The cause just below the 3rd line is not too hot. When you replaced the thermostat, did you change the rear seal in the block?

Have you checked the fan clutch? Does it spin a little too easily when hot (engine off)?

The electric fan alone will keep a S3 at just under the white line.

You don't need the X-pipe to install the chips, although it will make a lot more power with it.

Here are some FPRs I saw on eBay (possibly the same one listed under different names).

Probably not Bosch but look to be decent quality externally as opposed to some I've seen.
