Default Market for Jump Post Cover?

I wonder if there is a market in the 928 world for a redesigned Jump Post Cover and perhaps Jump Post Cap also. I often see the comment, kind of tongue-in-cheek, that a given car is missing the Jump Post Cover, but I never seen anything about replacements for it or both of them. I wonder if they are available and how much they are.

They're widely available new or used, and cheap (Like $5 brand new...). Likewise with the cap, at least used, from Mark. He's got a bucket of them.

I've never had any issue ordering the cover or the old or newer style Cap, not very expensive either.

My theory is that people use the post for what it was designed for, Charging and or Jump starting the car, forget to reinstall the Cap and the cover falls off during a drive.
Our suppliers would have to comment on the future availability of inventory.

I've been thinking a CE panel water shield would be a good idea, as one doesn't know when a leak will develop in the HVAC blower seal until the CE gets wet

After receiving one of your Cowl covers and admiring it's construction (nice work), the above should be an easy construct

My theory is that at some point it's forgotten, as Dave suggests, and then subsequent owners don't even know it's supposed to be there (that would be me, when I got my car). I had the cap, but no cover, and assumed all the talk about covers was referring to the cap. Once I realized my error, i ordered one new from Roger.

I like the idea of a CE panel cover....

Mine too.

I knew I needed a cap, but had no idea there was also a cover.

I placed my first order with Roger, cap, odo gear, seat ***** and a few other small things (I usually do a "test order" of small stuff when buying from someone for the first time). He asked if I needed the cover too.

Ummm...

So we ended up looking on here at my "intro" thread, where I had a pic of the engine. He saw I didn't have it, suggested it and made a $6 upsell for the order. And demonstrated that he knew these cars and cared about his customers. Getting a customer for life.

There is nothing wrong a more stout version of the jump post cover. I have had issues where the edge that is supposed to fit the jump cover to the fender bends or tears.

I thought Roger mentioned to me the the jump post caps were no longer available.

77 to 84 push on caps are NLA and the number supersedes to the later 85 to 95 screw on caps and you replace the post with the later screw on type.

Covers are $6, caps are $7 and the screw on jump post is $8.98 - all pretty cheap parts.
