So I was out in my 86.5 last night and the car got warm... when I parked and got back to it, it fired up but when I was coming off lights sometimes it felt like she had a lack of power but instantly woke up.

I then parked up again for an hour, went back to the car and every time it started it just cut out unless I gave it gas and then it settled. The weird thing is that twice now when I've switched the lights on it's cut out as well. I would have initially thought it was just fuel related but the lights have thrown me off...

Any Ideas?

Service all your ground points, including ground strap at rear and its battery connections.
If this doesn't remedy/help, consider ignition switch as it is tied into headlights.

Agreed. Begin by replacing ground strap whether you think it needs it or not.

Add to the above pulling and cleaning all the Fuses, however this could be an ignition switch too.
