Side mirror popped off
My drivers side mirror popped off again; meaning that the spring loaded bolt that holds the mirror to the post and allows for the fold away function became unscrewed. The first time it happened I could not get it back on by myself and had to take it to my shop.
Now that the forum is here, maybe someone can coach me as to how to fix it myself???

Thanks for the lead. I tried the technique described at the nichols site before but could not overcome the spring tension by myself. Guess I'll give it another go.

That spring has to be TIGHT! My mirror was loose, so I removed it and tightened up the spring. After re-installing the mirror, it was still somewhat loose, so I had to take it off agian. This time I tightened the spring till it felt fully compressed and I couldn't turn it anymore. I used a long, thick bladed screwdriver to turn the spring compresser part.

My guess is that the 928 flags and the 944 flags are the same. There is a procedure for removing and flags and installing aeros in my sig. It may help to see the parts you are working with and how they interact. There are photos in the procedure as well as a way to reattach the base to the mirror housing that I developed. Hope this helps.
