New owner 1979 Manual 928
Hi folks, I've just bought a 1979 manual, non-sunroof 928 in white with 93k miles and just thought I'd drop in to say hi. It's in need of a timing belt and water pump change and a general 90k mile service but runs very well indeed. Originally beige, it's been repainted white (very well) a few years ago and the brown interior is all original. Just looking for some original 16" tele dial wheels to replace the gold BBS ones so if anyone has any leads I'd be grateful. Cheers all!

Thanks and thanks cali4sun for the link.
James yes but it's long overdue for a timing belt so I'd rather have the peace of mind.
Great cars, look forward to hanging out here.

Your car looks great and I hope you have as much fun with it as I've had with my OB. If you go for the Bakersfield wheels, consider having them chromed. A previous owner did that for my 1981 and they really look great.

Partly from the title of the ad. Partly because the last picture shows the back side of the wheel and you can read the numbers if you zoom in.
Mostly because Jim is probably the most knowledgeable person on here (and probably anywhere else) when it comes to the early cars.
Welcome. It's a lovely car. Greg Brown at Precision Motorwerks is one of the best 928 mechanic/inventor/curmudgeon in the country. Good luck getting on his schedule, but he'd be the go-to guy for any work you want done.
Unless you want to do it yourself. In which case this is the place for all the info you need, along with encouragement, advice, and help when you have a problem.

You've got better eyesight than me, I zoomed in and couldn't see a thing! Thanks for the advice. Yes I've had a quote from Greg and know he has a great reputation.
Think it's a bit beyond my capabilities!
Cheers!

Welcome.
If you don't know much about the cars mechanical history, I'd be eyeballing the rubber fuel lines along the passengers side of the engine. And replace as soon as possible, if they look old.
Good luck, with your new joy.
Brian.

Your BBS RS wheels were very expensive when new...also the rears often were 8 inch widths. The 928 phone dials you will find were 7x16 or 7x15 (different look to them) . Check your tire sizes to see what they are.
Many consider the BBS wheels to be FAR more desirable and thus much more valuable.

Hi James yes they're both 16"s front and rear. If I could swap for a good set of original tele dials I'd be happy. If not I'll let the BBS's go for a fair price - they're in good condition and I'm sure someone would be happy with them, I'd just like it to be original.
I think these early cars, like a lot of 1st generation cars, are really the best aesthetically, and I'm hearing the better engines too!
