Default What Is This Transmission Part?

I believe I have found the elusive leak of tranny fluid I've been chasing around for months. The leak is on the right side (Passenger) near the reservoir. It appears to be coming from around this yellow plastic thing.

1.) What is this part?
2.) Is there an "O" ring inside (Leaking)?
3.) How is it removed to replace the "O" ring if that is the case?

Yes there is an "O" ring and it's a know leaking point.
Plastic piece turns and then the cable hooks down inside, should be a write up somewhere here.

"Kickdown" or "pressure" cable.

We stock the O ring.

Check PET 87-91 "Main group 7: Hand level system, pedal cluster", check for illustration 702-05 and the o-ring number is 999 701 960 40

When you get in there for the new O-ring, detach the cable up by the quad. You'll need the slack to work with. Even if you have it up on a lift, a mirror will be helpful to detach/re-attach the right angle lever into the hole at the end of the cable.

It looks very tight in there. No lift.

It is.
I work while on stands too. After releasing the yellow housing slide up the cable a bit. Pull up the cable so its union with the right angle lever arm is visible (this is where you may need the mirror). Hold lever arm with a needle nose and remove it going through the hole in the cable end. Slip the O ring over the free cable end and re-attach to the lever. Now you can finesse the O ring in place while the linkage is made.

when I replaced mine, I managed to split the o-ring at installation and for sure it fell in the hole. I had to remove the pan to get to it . Second attempt I lubed the o-ring to get it to slide in more easily, and it went in like a charm.

It is for this reason I mentioned previously to put the O ring over the cable and let it sit there for a moment until you put the linkage lever through the hole on the cable end. This will allow you to: 1 - get the linkage attached first up while you are still holding the lever arm with your needle nose and 2 - keep the ring from falling into the pan. This does require some one handed maneuvering, but as 928 workers we're used to that. Once your linkage is attached you can play with the O ring all day long without worrying about it falling into the pan.
