Based on the head gasket i have on the engine. It was crushed, but obviously wasnt when i measured it.

Dia of 4.020 inches or 102.108mm (10.2108cm)

thickness (of the metal ring) .042 inches...or....1.066mm.... .1066cm)

http://www.abe.msstate.edu/~fto/tools/vol/cylinder.html
volume = 34.916 cc's

http://www.sciencemadesimple.com/conversions.html
34.916 Cubic centimeters equals 2.13071 Cubic inches

doesnt seem right to me? did i do something stupid?

Tony-

Wrong conversion factors I think. I came up with 7.57 cc's for the head gasket volume. It's kinda tricky - but basically, using your CM values, calculate volume of the cylinder (pi x radius (sq) x ht) to come up with cubic CM. Convert to gallons - then back to CC's. Probably a long way around, but works for me.

Thnx jay! Yup those numbers agree WAY more with the older notes i had. Im like, 34cc...over 2 inches? thats damn near the combustion chamber volume!

[QUOTE]How is that SC driven, unless i missed it, i dont see the belt or pulley system?..

Tony,
The kleemann blower is driven by the cars serpentine belt and pulley system; the blower is unique in that it has an intercooler built into it. Look at the E430 bottom of the page to see the drive belt.

did some measuring today..piston deck clearance. Any one "in the know", how does it look?

the rest of the pics are on here...scroll to the bottom after it all loads

http://members.rennlist.com/v1uhoh/engineproj.htm

just added how i checked the thrust bearing as well....
ths is the value... looks like .00575"

Tomorrow the rod bearings...and perhaps pulling the pistons. Anything else i should check before i yank the pistons?

Also have to wash and clean the car, a few of us are taking a road trip to Anaheim on friday!

Thumbs up

As usual, your camera usage and write-up is excellent Tony.
