At this Euro 928 2017 @ Reims / France, it was very nice to meet up with some old friends and meet new ones!
Have been making lots of photo's, but due to hotel WiFi problems till date, not had a change to upload any of them yet. Will do so in the days to come...

The French 928 CLub knows how to organize a great party. My son and I drove down from Holland and we had a great weekend. Never had so much champaign in a weekend.
It turned out we were the only ones with a Dutch license plate (my old '83 US model 928S). And it was great to meet Tom, Richard and John from the US , Johnny from Switzerland and the guys from Sweden and Finland.
Bilal, and Roger you guys missed a great event. I was sooooo disappointed that you guys did not show up!
Attached is a link with some pictures. I hope you can access them.

Musing on the trip home ...
I got up Monday, enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the hotel (eggs! bacon! sausage! belgian waffle!) and departed Brussels about 10:30a. My flight to Atlanta was 9.5 hours and crossed six time zones, so we landed there in early afternoon US eastern time. After doing the customs and baggage re-check process, I got on the two hour flight over to Austin, crossed one last time zone, and arrived home about 6:00p in time to have dinner with my wife, talk about the trip, read the mail and etc. Went to bed at the normal time, got up the next morning at my normal time, went to work and had a normal day.
So it was interesting to fly 11.5 total hours in a day, cross an ocean, and end up right back on my normal schedule with no jet lag, or readjustment of any kind. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but in the end it was remarkably un-remarkable.

Sounds like I was just a couple of hours ahead of you, Tom. I landed in Greenville SC at 5 PM and was home around 6 PM EST.

Already during Thursday afternoon, just after the official start time of this event, I counted over 40+ 928's on the car park (side note: unfortunately very few participants from outside France):
In the local Reims car museum, spotted this 928 miniature. Might have inspired some, I think?
For those of you who where there: wan't this the temperature in bus during Friday afternoon's champagne house visit?
Actually: we had very nice super modern air conditioned buses for our transports.

Philippe Delaporte drove his car to all locations (here on the Saturday champagne area car driving tour), and he has been showing to us all that our cars - when properly maintained - is as tough as nails and made to be driven - in his case literally - around the world!
Philippe was very pleasant to talk to, another great example of a passionate 928 owner.
