Hmmmmmm, me thinks this could be a fine good time. I do not fear Brussels. Indeed I might go early through there and slip down to Brugge for a few days with Mrs. S4ordie and our young daughter who will be 8 then. A few rennlisters are in the Brussels area and are a fun group.

Fpr those with 928's a fun, though long autobahn blast up the A4 to Leipzig would be a nice trip. As that is where the Porsche factory is that builds the front engined vehicles. They are very 928 friendly there. I was there this time 4 years ago. They were well pleased with my pics of the Turq and the Zycalmrot Metallik cars. Their response - "Ze Grandfazer to ze Panamera!". Cool museum too with a couple of 928's in it. They let go round the winter test track a few times with one of their drivers. Here is a vid I took from the back seat. 130kph snow drifting is fun. I suspect with enough advance notice the Porsche would set up some fun time on the track and in the museum.

Euro928 2014 was at the Leipzig Porsche factory - a lot of fun had by all.
They even brought in the all alloy 928 from Stuttgart especially for the 928 crowd.

wow, this is tempting and rare opportunity.

I certainly will consider shipping my car over, a container with a few cars might make sense for those of us wanting to split costs. My friend ships cars at great rates that way every week. I can find out details if anyone is interested.

France in the spring, 928s, what's not to love!?

Attached is a good flyer to set the scene.

I will be attending. Plan is also to rent something fast and sample the high speed driving on the Autobahn.

Bilal is coming with me - anyone else want to join in from the States?
I'm in.!

Sixt in Germany rents almost anything you want in their special cars/vip section.

Most bang for the $/euro is a 525tdi or A6 tdi, they all go 150+ and are enormously inexpensive to run that it's not necessary to rent a Porsche or Ferrari etc.

They also don't attract much attention from French coppers "flics" as compared to other cars, and you can park anywhere. Try that in an exotic in France ...

Anyway, I consistently rent from sixt and have had excellent service from them as well as magnificent cars.

Hope that helps..

You make a damn good point. I would have had two years rest.... thanks for the clarification! I might just have to consider this fine road trip.

Save the date!
http://www.euro928-2017.eu/

Just one year to wait before the start of the Euro 928 2017.

We work on the organization, with Porsche France.
This will be the main 2017 event for the classics in France and the director of Porsche France will be there with a manual GTS that he has bought for Porsche France's collection.

Also, we will have cars from the Porsche Museum on display.

I am looking forward to it. Just need more information as the airline tickets I can afford will be the non refundable variety.

William,
I am interested in this experience also. I will make my car available on west coast.

Man this is tempting.

If I did it I would HAVE to ship my 928 over.

Would love to drive it on the Autobahn and flash the lights in the left hand lane.

When I was stationed there in the Army from 85-88, I used to love watching these things roll their headlights into the "attack position" and watch the little minnows scurry over to the right hand lane when we were on tactical road marches.

Would also love to do some laps on the Nurburgring in my own Porsche. That is to me the ULTIMATE automotive fantasy...

The rest would just be gravy on top...

We are up for this. It will be good to meet some of you on Champagne tour. The old track at Geux is worth visiting. You can borrow my GTS for photos.

Bring it on.

That sounds like a great time...I think I will schedule one of my trips home over that time next year and see you guys there! And even though I won't be coming in a 928, it would be a nice cruise for the 500SEC that hasn't gotten any longer trips in 15 years or so!

This is no longer allowed in Germany, now you're just allowed to use the indicator light...
