#44 Cord Phaeton. Best looking car - evar. I had the closed body Beverly model for a while. It was amazing too, but the cab model is pure automotive sex.

Couple of real clunkers made their list.

Saw a Rolls Royce Phantom on the road the other day. Looked like a big Tonka Toy truck - one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen.

Next to the original Riviera, the "boat tail" was a styling disaster.

They didn't even get the years right on this list. I mean they picked a 1991 countach to put on the list. Really? The bloated version with wings and huge wheel wells is a classier design than the original clean body design?

"Classy" is hardly objective. It's more related to how the car was perceived at the time it was introduced. Maybe a certain exclusivity. Except for the Mini.

I drove one of those Saab 900 Turbos for a bit over 300k, it was practical with a rear deck bigger than the rear deck in its replacement, a Ford Explorer SUV. In stock form the performance was impressive, massaged a bit it was a rocket at the time. Upright seating in orthopedic seats, a comfortable and very stable drive in all weather conditions. Was it a "classy" car? It was at the time.

I would have chosen the Aero if I were going with Saab. But - really, I wouldn't put either on there.

The Aero wasn't an option on the early cars. The first "upgrade" options package was the SPG (special performance group?) package starting in the mid 1980s, adding some pseudo-aero lower rocker fairings and exclusive wheels, and a few extra Swedish horses. Interesting on those Swedish horses too; the Saab was rated at 135 HP, and would cruise quite comfortably north of 100 MPH. A decade later, a Subaru turbo wagon with the same 135 HP rating was pretty much out of breath long before 100 MPH. Kyoto ponies with shorter legs I guess. I don't think that car made anyone's list.

Lots of other interesting car designs for their times.
