Wow, 10 months blew by pretty quickly! Anyway I received the car from Mark fairly quickly and gave it a once over. Pretty decent car overall and as Mark mentioned the PO had dumped a ton of money into it. Unfortunately the goobs who were doing all of the work didn’t address simple and critical things when they had it apart. For one they had the intake off more than once yet didn’t replace all of the hoses underneath or address the fuel lines. Wiring was also a mess. Once I looked it over I did a compression check (all good) and then addressed the non-functioning oil sender. Actually the wiring was all backwards on the oil sending unit. I put a few miles on it and then put it away to work on in the summer. Well life and work has been intensely busy so the car didn’t have anything else done to it until now.

I have been looking forward to 3rd coast and determined a couple of months ago that my GT has developed an engine problem that is going to require some extensive work and the Euro is in the early stages of disassembly for an overall paint and mechanical refresh. With that I realized that if I was going to have any chance at having a 928 to drive I was going to need to get the GTS functional and reliable as quickly as possible. I sent Roger a note about 3 weeks ago for the parts to do an intake refresh plus a few other things. As usual he responded and shipped quickly.

I received everything and started to work on it at the first of last week. Turns out that not only were the fuel lines original for the most part so were all of the cooling lines. I decided to replace all of the rubber hoses under the hood. I also replaced all of the vac lines as they were either bad or had multiple splices. Additionally I replaced the power steering and tranny cooler lines.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to refinish the valve covers and intake but figured I would pull them back off to do that once I shake the car down a bit.

So what are your thoughts on the fuel lines? I wasn’t ready for any type of driving with these things on!

As far as the multiple wiring issues do you think this harness needs some attention? I ended up installing one of Sean’s wiring harnesses that he makes. Absolutely magnificent work Sean!!

I finished up checking the crank endplay (.009”) and found out that the coupling bolt was only snug and not real tight. When I properly torqued it up a strange rattling noise that was present when the car was shut down went away.

Without too much more issue I took it for a drive and it ran out great!! That was Sunday night. Well I had a work trip planned South of San Antonio for the week so I loaded the GTS up and headed out on a +600 mile drive. It drove out great and NO issues! Well I’m about done with work and will be headed up to Marble Falls tomorrow! Should be arriving early afternoon and looking forward to it! WHOOHOOO!!
