Default Power Steering Rack Bench Test

So,
Rebuilt the rack and pump. Thanks Roger for getting the Pump kit here so fast.

Having read about the high failure rate of the DIY reseal of the Rack kit, I figured since I had all of the components out of the car, and extra fluid lines, Why not test and decide if I needed to order a rebuilt rack sooner rather than later.

So, Good news...No Leaks!!

I will say that I cant feel much of a difference across the RPM range in ease of steering. I imagine that the true test will be when resistance is added with the weight of the car and drag of the tires.
I do feel a sense of pressure and pump has a bit of a resistance when I run the rack through its travel.

I am cycling the pump at from 1500 to 2500 RPM.

But As of now it is smooth and leak free.

One more bite out of the elephant.

Cool! Very clever! The next step is to add some load... Add the tie-rods with the end-stops and then run it hard against the stops, that will bump the pressure up. Then re-install and go lock-to-lock on dry pavement.

Is the rod in good shape? I re-sealed mine several times only to have it fail later. Turned out the rod was corroded further down the rod. I didn't spot it when working on the rack with the rod centered.
