With the way the values are going, this appears to be a great buy. Unless there is some major problems with it.

I wonder why the engine was rebuilt?

I had a very brief discussion with the seller. The ODO was replaced. Claimed mileage I think he said around 155k miles IIRC. Rebuilt engine and mileage doesn't match the ODO so I am not interested.

The odometer in the photos shows 122K. Suspicious history??

Odometer was replaced so it can read anything., If the trend continues with P Car values, many will be kicking themselves that they didn't grab that GTS for 20k years from now. This is close to top shelf for 928 value, only surpassed by the same car with a manual or possibly a GT. These cars will be unobtanium before you know it and the issues won't matter as long as it's complete.

If it had another color interior, I'd probably have bought it...

What a bargain.

I will be in Southwest Florida in 10 days for vacation. Might find some time to check it out.

I talked to the owner.

The GTS has a questionable history. According to the owner, he bought it off a Porsche dealer after the owner never picked up the car following work done.

The car has a used gauge cluster, actual mileage is in the ~155K range.

He also allegedly has a 91 S4 for sale.

Who in Tampa area does PPIs?

Leo at German Specialties in Oldsmar comes to mind for a PPI. He owned an S4 at one time and tracks his 944.

813 eight one eight -0993.

Oldsmar, FL is about an hour from Brandon, FL where this car seems located.

Looking at the pictures and oddities made me wonder how easy it might be to "make" a GTS from an S4? Hardest part might be finding the needed VIN? Recommend any serious buyers review the title for being clear, correct VIN, and in the sellers name. Car location on the map provided looks like a trailer park off a very busy 6-8 lane road in Brandon, which is a big red flag in my eyes.

Edit: And, Duh! DR is out here, too. Might be fun for him to play interested buyer :-). I believe he is about 90 minutes from there, however.

Personally, I'm more interested in the 91 S4.

The area does look like some sort of homeowners association. Part of it contains trailers, however there's houses in the back that could match the pictures taken.

That said, I don't trust the owner at all.

Ah, yes. Another Duh! on my part. Where's Friday when you need it?!

Yes, the fender flares and gas door would be the bigger challenge, and the better proof.

Thank you, linderpat!
