I know all about the adjustments, etc. but I think the motor (original) in my 84 is just plain tired. I have adjusted the snot out of the sunroof and ALL associated parts (and even fabricated improved ones) but the motor doesnt have the ooomph to push it the last half inch. I know its adjusted optimally, but have to ask if there is a performance wound motor out there?

The motor isn't all that strong. What happens if you take the cover off, and turn the little rubber connector piece while pushing the switch?

You might try to clean/refurb the motor too. Cleaning up the commutator & brushes might make a difference. Any good electrical shop should be able to do this if you don't want to yourself.

Everything is lubricated well. I will take the motor to a shop and see if they can beef it up. When I use the switch and turn the rubber coupler, it helps. I think the motor is just old and tired.

put some deoxit 100 on the switch contacts and the motor connector connections,
take the motor apart and clean and lube it

Hook it up directly to the battery and see if it's still weak. My guess is the problem isn't the motor but the resistance in the electrical system is high and you are loosing amps.
