Default 928 After Market Interior Option

Hey guys, I've got a question concerning the interior of our favorite cars. I have two local guys that are selling a 79 5-speed and the other one is an 82 auto. Both are in good condition from exterior and both have good power. As any car this old that have been parked outside for many years, the thing that has gone to hell is the interior. We live in west Texas and so heat and sun kill any car here. These have leather that's more than 30 years old so you can imagine what it looks and feels like. And I'm talking about everything that has either warped or leather that has torn and crumbled in some spots.

It's very saddening to see these beasts treated like that and so I thought that any of those two would be good cars to maybe have as a daily over anything that's new in the Japanese line or American car such as your Corollas or Fusions. I'd prefer a classic 928 that makes me feel who I am, a real man! YEAH!

So have had the idea for some time of refurbishing the interior of these cars with nothing stock but new and not original in materials or design. I wouldn't want to maybe redo it with same panels but know that rear quarter panels, ceiling panel and dash are no option so new material covering them would be only option. But door panels and front seats could be replaced with something after market or even custom made. Rear seats could be deleted. Those ideas came from seeing the interior of what the GT3 RS models look like. Simple and without any thing extra, to keep car light and simple so I thought about that route for new interior for a 928.

The door panels would be simple, with only a nylon strap to pull door in. No need for an arm rest or space to put extra things in that hidden compartment. Rear seats and luggage room all could be covered in carpet to keep simple and light.

I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this and make it something Singer like. But what materials and ideas have you guys thought about that might work and can maybe risk buying one and doing as a sample? Would love to get one on road and keep alive. I get the feeling these guys are not being patient on keeping with them. I'll post a few pics of what can maybe be made along the lines of the GT3 RS interior so you guys can maybe see what I'm seeing.

Many are starting to spend $ and time going back to bone stock because of it.
