Engine Removal

I am about to remove the engine from my GT. Everything has been disconnected except the motor mounts, as per shop manual. My question is about the height of the car off the ground? I have the car raised about 18 inches off the ground on jack stands. I am using a standard engine hoist with the arm extended to its max to remove the engine but the front bumper of the car is stopping the hoist from properly lining up centered on the engine. I was thinking that if the car was closer to the ground the hoist might clear the bumper better, but if I lowered the car to hook up the hoist, i would not be able to reach the motor mounts to undo them.
Anyone who has done this before could offer any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks

Hey Adam, i was trying to avoid pulling the front bumper.
I was concerned that if I removed the mounts first, the engine might topple forwards and hit the AC condenser...

I would have radiator and condenser out, hood off and have a long reach cherry picker that will be able to extend over bumper. You can rent one with a ball hitch to transport.

Might want to get your condenser out. You have to have more reach IMO. The engine weighs around 500 lbs so you need the right equipment for your safety and so you won't tear anything up
