6th Annual Houston Holiday Dinner in The Woodlands
Our Houston 928 Holiday dinner will be on Jan 3, (Sunday) at Grotto's in The Woodlands. This event was a bit smaller last year, probably due to the rain and cold temps, but most years we have seen very nice weather, so hope for good weather and if the weather’s cold, bundle up and come anyway!
We will start to gather in the parking lot around 4 and mingle amongst the cars, then head into the bar around 5-5:30 and eventually be seated for dinner around 6:30.
Grotto’s has a nice parking area behind the restaurant that usually has lots of room on Sunday’s.
Please let me know if you are going to try to make it so I can get a rough head count.
Glad you are going to make it. From Dallas, you would take Lake Woodlands Dr, then go past Six Pines Dr. and turn into the rear parking lot. The address, 9595 Six Pines Dr #100, doesn't map exactly right in Google (see red marker), so here's a map with the rear parking lot and restaurant highlighted.
So, a good time was had by all. It turned out to be a beautiful day, sunny and just a bit crisp. Finally hit 60+ in the parking lot. Now, the bad news. One of the parties who has MANY 928's showed up driving a Mercedes. The sacrilege was overwhelming. Just because he drove 250 miles to join in the fun for a couple of hours is no excuse! And then drove 250 miles back.....and he brought along another 928 fellow who of course left his 928 at home too. But, the company was excellent, the conversations typical and fun and useful, and the food was excellent too. Thanks Don, for pulling this together! And the rumors of the $280 bottle of wine was found to be just that, a nasty urban rumor with little basis in fact. Was that the first bottle? Maybe not? And the 928 watch that Don was wearing was a tour de force....but it really does require 2 people to install and wear it. Must have been a 928 engineer reject who designed that strap.
We had nice weather and a good turnout this year. Thanks to all the out of towners that made the drive to join us. It was great to see everyone again.
Jim, I was lucky that my son let me borrow the #7 928 Laco watch. We both agreed it needed to get out of the box and make it to a 928 event. (It was a generous gift from Dan H. to my son on our Phoenix road trip in June)
Don: thanks once again for putting together a great holiday event. I appreciate all you do to help me with my 928 and I'm certain the other Houston area 928 owners thank you as well!
