3rd Coast - What a great Time!!!
What a great time this weekend!
Great fun and Great People. Good to meet all the Austin and Houston folks and all others who came and put faces with the names and avatars.
Thanks to Don and Donald for organizing and putting this together!
To TMAX for realizing I was running down the street chasing 4 928's after they left me at the convenience store. Thanks for stopping man!
Thanks to Jim Mayzurk for getting me to and from the event in one piece.
Also, for getting on the binders and slowing down from supersonic speeds in the GTS (Followed by Roger and Randy) in Lampassas so we did not have to endure a full body cavity search! (Warning only!)
My cavities thank you!
To the couple who made it from Missouri (can't remember your names-sorry) thanks for driving all that way. Glad y'all won the belly pan!!
To Devek and 928 Intl. for donating the great prizes!
And to all the people who came and made it such a great time.
The weather held out and it was a laid back place to sit around, eat, drink, and talk about an awesome car!!
And to all those who gave me $&*T about not having my car running, yes it will be running and be there next year! Thanks guys.
For those who missed it, make it a point to come out next year and experience some good Texas Hospitality!

Hey Chuck,
This is Chris with the red '78 Euro(ya know, the one parked at a 45 degree angle to all the rest). You mentioned you may have some spare euro parts around from a part-out. I'll be interested in some before too long when I get a little extra cash
Hope all goes well putting your car back together and hope to see you layin' rubber next year (hopefully not in a puddle of oil)

Hi Chuck,
I had an AWESOME TIME!!
Thanks to Jim and his copilot (you) I experienced warp speed in my car for the first time.
Thanks to the 928 gods for Jim's warning and deferring to cavity search to another occasion!!
The organization of the event was great so thanks to the two D's.
Anyone have the contact info for the PDR guy - he was an artist.
Best,
Roger

Chris,
Sounds good and good to meet you BTW. When you're ready, just pm me and I'll get them out. Sounds like you're having fun with the car already, and it only gets better!

Roger,
You had the biggest grin on your face after that high speed run, you looked like a kid in a candy store - That was great!
Glad you had fun, and got your dents fixed as well.

Hey Roger,
the dent guy was Dustin Karshens from "Texas Dent Works"
Office: (512) 343-2619
Cel: (512) 825- 5564
He removed a dent from my top. I just washed the car and I can't tell where it was. Amazing.
It was nice meeting all you guys.

Chuck, finally we met. Too bad we didn't have more time to talk Euro swaps, but you probably got more than you wanted from the others too. Nicole, there are more pictures to come, but I would like to share one non-928 photo worth mentioning. On the long limp home We met a couple that had car problems too. With his permission, I took several photo's of his car. I tried to help, but mainly got in his way. As a 2 time Grand National Show Winner, He knew exactly what he was doing. This was no Trailer Queen!
Anyone interested in seeing the engine photo's of this beauty, just ask. He was fairly knowledgable about the 928, one of the guys in the Jag Club owns one. Anybody here?

What a great weekend! Wonderful people, wonderful cars, great barbecue.
The car:
Turned on the dome light to look at a map and saw a blue flash. All dash gauges died and the "check engine" light came on. Pucker factor 9.7 until I figured out I'd blown a fuse. Missed turn off and ended up in the parking lot of an open car parts store. Replaced fuse # 25 and back in business.
At ambient 75F car runs at BOTTOM white line. Gotta release the Tstat opener rig so the car can run without a block heater! Car performed flawlessly all weekend.
The event:
Met Porschadillo group at indoor kart track North of Austin and saw the only 92 in the country and a bunch of other great stuff. Decided to do a detailed plumbing inspection of the karting track as the cars were lining up for the tour. Missed the take off and found three other 928 stragglers. Got a set of tour instructions and set off as lead car with Pam navigating. 20 minutes later decide not to follow instructions which appear to require an off-road excursion through a field. Decide to drive to a meeting point and wait for the pack to "catch up"
Pack catches up and we follow. Pam and I promptly take wrong turn and end up heading in the wrong direction. Thanks to a map stolen from T_Max we double back and meet the pack in Blanco.
Note to self.....Don't volunteer for any pathfinding jobs unless prepared to learn Eskimo!
The people:
First see T_Max first thing in the morning as he stumbles out of his motel room to turn off Dolly's car alarm after one of the kids sets it off. He's a big kid with mischief in his eye and good nature pouring out of his ears. He manages to produce a two and a half year old munchkin of the female persuasion who looks EXACTLY like him, but is still cute as a bug's ear. We're negotiating a purchase.
John Struthers, a fellow traveller with a different starting point. Wish I had the time to get to know him.
Donald and Theresa with the twin boys. Donald is an alpha male who I'd trust with my life.
Art and Katy, who we're looking forward to seeing locally, and their long suffering, terminally bored, teenage daughter.
Jan (sp) and pretty Terri who need to think HAMSTER!
Paul and Linda Champagne from Montreal via Corpus Christi. Paul greeted me with a "Do you still 'ave your over'eating problem?" I think humph, you don't know me that well. So I'm fat, you don't have to make a big deal of it. After realizing that I'm listening to a beautiful Quebecois accent I determine that he's referring to my car's engine, not my belly. If he were being impolite he woud have asked whether I was still "overheating".
Bruce and Theresa, both in the Air Force, on their way to a posting in England.
Scott and Inge who we already know from local events. Inge washed the car in preparation for the weekend while Scott was out of town. Pretty, smart, and washes cars. A definite keeper.
The trip home:
We left Austin about 8:30 after having dinner with Pam's son. The road was LOUSY with cops searching for hardened criminals of the speeding variety. I missed getting nailed at least five times, once when an 18 wheeler moved over into the passing lane and blocked me for no apparant reason. He moved back only after he was sure I'd see the speed trap. Another time I was "painted" fair and square, but the cop got the guy behind me because it was more convenient. I ordered a Valentine 1 this morning.
Thanks to the "big three" organizers, Donald, Don and T_Max for a great weekend. See you again next year.
Oh, by the way, I have officially decided that I do NOT have an overheating problem. The electrical tape actually doesn't look too bad covering the temperature gauge!
