Default Need gas cap help

Does anyone have a picture of a gas cap? I need to see where the rubber sealing ring goes. Can't find a picture anywhere. And I'm pouring out gas all over my car. Yuk.

Oops. Maybe not the gas cap. I think the rubber oring actually is supposed to go on the car end of the assembly. Anyways, whatever is allowing my gas to pour out has me a bit confused as to how the stock configuration works...Another non rocket science inquiry.

Hey Greg, Thanks. I found by looking closer there was a groove. Why the o-ring ends up inside the cap is a mystery. I'll try that and see how it long and how well it works. Thanks. BTW, it's mighty kind of you to help out with your picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone had a problem with the fuel door not closing properly? It seems that my gas cap protrudes a bit once installed. It prevents the fuel door from closing "flush". I may have a later model cap. Anyone have a pic of a '79 gas cap.

The gas tank can move around in there quite a bit. When I removed my tank to replace the vent hose, I had to move it around a bit to get my gas cap to fit.

I just loosened the strap connectors a bit until I was able to wiggle the tank into a better position. Tighten up the straps and it was better.

Also, the couplong of the filler, to the tank can get rotten and leak. My mileage decreases dramatically with hard lefthanders after a fill-up!
