SOLVED: Fuse 24 Again (PAGE 8)
I blew 7 fuses this morning in fuse 24 just by inserting it.
I tried inserting even with the battery disconnected and no luck. Once reconnecting it the fuse would go pop too disabling the interior lights.
I have pulled the roof lights for the typical ground out issue and no success. Not sure where to go from here. There is no fuse in socket 24 since just inserting it blows it out and I don't want to destroy my CE panel.

Not sure if this is related or not but I notice my e-brake does not ratchet or click anymore when pulling it up. Searching here has revealed there are wires in that area for the hatch release.

The interior light power goes there for the hatch switch - check that - easy to remove the cover to see...
Also remove the door lights and check.
Have you changed anything in the pod or worked on the speakers at all recently?

Alan I installed a narrowband AFR 2 years ago. It has worked fine until today. It is non-functional but was added via add-a-circuit to the AC fuse slot. So I have issues

My 86.5 was blowing the interior light fuse regularly until I figured out the short circuit was coming from the hatch area. There is a ribbon cable that runs between the roof and the hatch. The span of cable in the area between the roof and hatch is an opportunity for ribbon cable chafing. Removing the trim under the hatch is easy and you should be able to inspect the cable for chafing shorts.

Also here are wires for E-brake central warning. Connector attacks to base of brake arm.

I think I know what it is. I had the parking brake cover off when I took my seats out for a major carpet cleaning. I bet when assembling I may have moved the orientation of those hatch release wires. They are probably binding with the assembly and shorting. Doesn't the hatch release operate off of fuse 24 too?

It's definitely a short.
The easiest way to find it is putting an automatically resetting fuse (find it at auto parts stores located with other regular fuses) in place of a normal fuse with the key off. Get a compass ready. Turn the key on. The compass will point to the short. The resetting fuse will continue to reset itself because of the short and the compass will alternate between pointing north and towards the short. Just move the compass around until the signal is strong and obvious where it's pointing. It works because a magnetic field is created by the short.
