Default BUZZER?

Since gutting my 84, Ive partially reassembled it (not dash or pod yet) and start it every other couple of days. The issue is that now even with the doors and hatch closed, the warning buzzer (that looks like a large relay) located under the radio in the center console wont stop buzzing. Does anyone know what it could be? A bad buzzer maybe? It worked fine before and I have put in new door switches and hatch lock. Even when I push the hatch button down by hand, it still buzzes.

THANK YOU

Hmm... I had this same problem once and it ended up being something with the hatch (wasn't closing all the way or something to that effect).

Anyhow, it is actually supposed to be a chime. I've noticed that most just buzz now, which I imagine is due to a worn out speaker on the relay.

IIRC early cars had buzzers, chimes came in later. You will have to test the brown/white wire to see if your door hatch switches are actually working correctly - easiest is by the hatch - pull off the wire for the switch - does the buzzing stop - if so you hatch switch doesn't work right. If is still buzzes - measure the voltage with the 2 doors closed it should be @ ~12v (battery voltage) if it is at 0v you have a switch or other fault - try wiggling the door switches (for the closed position) to see if they are intermittent - or not getting plunged all the way due to mechanical placement.

It was the hatch button alright. When I adjusted the hatch to pull down tighter, I put the striker down further away from the hatch lock. I readjusted it and the chime stopped. Now I have to figure out why my courtesy lights stopped working!
