Hello all,
I'm purchasing a 928 today a 81', auto unfortunately. I'm picking it up at fairly low price, and I'm excited to get it back up to top shape. It needs a few things addressed immediately.
The brake master cylinder appears to be shot, there is no stopping power and the pedal slowly goes down to the floor and never truly firms up.
The power steering pump is bad also, looking at a refurb kit I saw on one of these posts.
The tailpipe/ muffler piece is missing.
And ultimately it needs a respray I think the previous previous owner took a roller and house paint to it.
All the electronics and such appear to be fine. Excited to get some tips and guidance from the forum previously I owned a b5.5 Passat and a 190e merc and had great like with diy thanks to the forum.

Sounds like you're going to save one. We appreciate that. Everything you need you'll find here. As soon as you can, learn about "Roger" and "Dwayne" and the other characters who we honor by using only their first names.

I will definitely try. After getting her home in noticing a lot more issues. The sunroof isn't seating properly there is a gap to the rear where water will surely get in. And the diffuser does not want to tuck in automatically have to manually pull it down to allow the sunroof to close. Any tips for fixing the seating of the sunroof?

Welcome, Kamilo. Where are you located?
Here's a good document about the sunroof system and associated repairs:

Read through the New Visitor...FAQ topic posted at the top of this forum when you can - the sooner the better.

Welcome to the group! As others have shared, you'll find yourself comfortably at home here, as most of the participants share the passion. Many have also been down the same road you are travelling, bringing a neglected car back from the edge of extinction.
Housekeeping:
-- There's a new-visitors thread at the top of the first page, chocked full of tips and wisdom gathered by those who have gone before so that your journey can be easier. Read it end to end, then again as time permits.
-- Rennlist membership has its benefits, not the least of which is the ability to add a signature line automatically to every post. Include the year and other details that may be handy for others to respond to your posts. Absent that, you'll need to put that in manually in every post. There are lots of posts by lots of owners, making it virtually impossible to remember from thread to thread wht car we are discussing.
-- Other membership benefits include eliminating the pop-up ads that are needed to fund the 'free' site. That alone is worth the few dollars for membership.
-- Share your location. There are members/enthusiasts all over the world, cetainly all over the U.S. Get familiar with your local listmembers, go to events big and small. That way you'll have the chance to use some of their knowledge and experience locally when you need it. If you have the good fortune to live in a major metro area, there is likely already a casual group nearby. Most all are fearless and ready to jump in and help on things with you.
--- The factory workshop manuals are invaluable, even for the easy stuff like adjusting the sunroof. Of course, adjusting the sunroof and fixing the linkage on the deflector presents an opportunity to go after a few other things. like cleaning the drains, lubricating the cables, and replacing the cake of dried grease in the sunroof gearbox with new stuff. WSM's are out of print. There are some online scans of them, but by far the bext deal is the set on CD with a pile of other documentation from 928srus.com Roger Tyson is one of several excellent resources for 928 stuff. 928 International offers new and gently used or refurbished 928 parts. Both are a lot better at pricing than the dealer parts counter.
--- Grab a copy of the exellent PPI worksheet from Dave Chamberlain (RL: Worf928), links from his signature line. Even though you've already taken the plunge, it will help you develop and prioritize a list of things you'll want to do to get and keep the car in a reliable and safe condition.
--- The 928 Owners Club works to maintain a support network of other owners. Investigate at 928oc.org. There's a registry so that cars can be tracked as they move along from caretaker to caretaker. The OC helps sponsor and promote 928-centric events around the US, with some interesting and useful swag.
--- Last but certianly not least, share some pictures of your car, its history, and what you plan for it. In this digital age, sharing photos and narrative is too easy. Others will follow along with you and share their experiences and guidance. This is particularly handy as you delve into things that don't work. Or worse, things that work intermittently or "sort of work".
Again, welcome to the group, and be sure to enjoy the ride!

Hi !
Welcome!
Hope to see some photos of your new baby soon !
(Uh.... I mean your car, you know, "your new baby" is a metaphor,
I mean, I don't really want to see pictures of your baby,
I mean like a human baby if you have one. That's creepy. Not that your baby is creepy, but somebody like me wanting to see your baby, now that, theoretically speaking, would be jacked up creepy. But I don't so we're cool. But I'm not judging you though if you hate kids or something....and it's not that I don't like babies, had four myself, I mean my wife did, but they're mine too...... I think.)

Welcome! You've come to the right place for advice ... and a bit of fun occasionally.
... as Daniel is talking about babies for some reason ... here's a pic of mine and his reaction to Daniels post
