C$35k for an '82
Another data point on pricing. A nice '82, that I had been watching, went at auction this week near Toronto for $35,200 (http://www.collectorcarproductions.c...062&EventID=92)
And, no, it wasn't me who bought it ;-)

Well, considering that's about 45,000 US miles, and the exchange rate of .76 cents...if someone from the US bought it...they actually paid about $26,000...plus whatever duties are involved. So, does that bring it down into the American mindset of price range? It is a one owner car, well documented and such. Looks like it needs a little loving, but pretty nice none-the-less.
Love the color combination. My 944 was that moca brown exterior, which the original owner told me it was black over the phone...lol.
Brian.

Let's all agree not to sell our cars cheap, except to those who have accumulated 50 good-owner points. Changing a timing belt gives you 35 points. Motor mounts is worth 25 points. Et cetera. No discount to those driving fewer than 1000 miles per year.

Still seems high to me. But I believe I am still behind the curve on valuations on these cars.
I bought a Canadian car 1 year ago to the week last week. An '87 auto with about 18k miles on it. It was also a one owner car. I paid less than 1/2 of that one in Canadian dollars. Now there were circumstances, and the vehicle was in a less populated part of the country. But still.
I guess he found the right buyer for that particular vehicle.

I bought an 84 auto black/black (in still to be determined condition) for $7500CAD last week. Flying up Monday to grab it. Looking like a steal given the PO work completed and appearance so far. 65K mi on the working odo.

You guys never cease to crack me up.
Anytime a 928 sells for 1% more than a perceived market value that has been stagnant for over a decade, heads start to spin.
This is a very clean, well documented (and presented....this is important) 1 owner car - on top of that a 5-speed.
In my opinion this was well bought.
Yes I understand it's a "boring" 80-82 16V with the performance of a Prius with a flat tire. So what? In the collector car market, prominence outweighs performance.

I got whacked for selling too cheap. Well, car is still in my garage, so maybe I'll extort some more cash from the buyer before it leaves. mmmmuuuuuaaahahhahhahhahahhaaaa.
Ya just can't win on valuing these cars. Being a bottom feeder, I think everything is too high priced. Meh - I can always make more money.

Ah so it does, had my cars mixed up....
In every other car circle a well documented 1 owner trumps almost everything else.
As I also said the presentation. Selling a car is nothing but marketing and the right sellers know what they are doing. There is also a reason why collector cars are mostly sold at auction and it's not because the selling price favors the buyer.
My friends in the Corvette collector world would never think of running a classified or online ad when selling a car. They go straight to Mechum or some other auction house.

LOL - not my intentions....just explaining how I see things.
As I type this I see an add for a 2015 Nissan Murano "starting at" $29,560 and think to myself what would I rather have? This one owner beautiful 928 or a rattle trap, plastic covered POS Nissan SUV?
Point is, everything is getting more expensive. Not sure why "we" expect 928's to go nowhere in the market.
