Yes, but the car was listed in the Registry and Rennlist had threads on it so I wasn't too worried.

You had no reason to be. For the $5k price it's really hard to go wrong, as long as the car isn't a rusted out basket case.

My point is, if the $10k "dealer" is a true story, someone else if fishing for an even higher asking price once the car is cleaned up and presented better, which makes my 78 a candidate for an easy flip if I wanted to just dump it.

Was the guy really asking $50k back in 2008 or was that a typo?

On a side note, what's with the gap around the tail-lights?

According to the seller, the dealer is in NY and this car is going over the pond.

Yep, guy said he had about 10 calls on it in the first 4 hours he listed it. Was a nice guy, too...just couldn't turn down the higher offer.

I am astounded that when someone accepts a deposit that they can justify selling it to someone else, regardless of the reason.

Bad form, in my opinion.

Very bad form... even $5K isn't enough to compromise one's honesty and reputation.

Sorry it didn't work out, Eric.

Thanks, guys. What's funny is that I guess the dealer first offered him $6500 but he turned it down because he told me he was a man of his word. I guess an extra $3500 changes that.

I won't get too upset until I see this car 20 years from now going for $1 million across some auction block
