It's under pressure, so I can't see how it would be negatively effected

SHould be just fine..it doesnt care.
Frankly..I dont really believe the car needs a 2nd cooler..given it has the in-tank monstrously efficient cooler there already...

The Auto 85/86 seem (to me) to run a tad hotter than the manuals, always wondered if it was due to the added Trans cooler in the Rads side tank?
