My heart sank when i read this. Mine went up in flames in March. I was lucky that it happened at a car wash when it did. This is after I spent years rebuilding the engine and FINALLY got it back on the road. I did o.k with the payout. I ended up buying another 89 and kept the burned unit. I was lucky that I also had a fire extinguisher with me (went through three of them before finally completely out). I think i had an injector pop out since it was localized to the #6 injector(?) I caught it in time but still had an estimate for $16k to repair.

I am in Hamilton if you want another project I may sell my car. I have been buying parts to rebuild it since it was localized to the intake. It is also a 5 spd. I did alot of work mechanically on that car.

Daniel, I checked my injectors 3 times, I checked fuel pressure 3 times I checked everything I could think to check and still it happened. The flammable liquid seemed to be coming from the passenger side fender well. There was a white line on the concrete of the garage where it hit the ground and ran to the side. I had just replaced everything fuel related. There were no leaks. The reason was that I could smell what smelled like old gas in the car and it ran like ****. I have a theory that somehow the charcoal canister filled with fuel over the years and was leaking from there. My car was not repairable as the hood melted and all the firewall stuff including the heating system was gone. The interior was not touched at all however, not even any smoke damage. I now have a large fire extinguisher hanging in the garage and it already saved my current 86.5 once. Just be sure you have one sitting there on startup just in case. Murphy dictates that if you are prepared, then you won't need it, if not..... Just my theory.
