Wow, what a shame. Really sorry to see that, but I'm relieved to hear nobody was hurt. Good luck with your search for a replacement.

sorry to hear of this. glad you were not hurt or burned. hopefully you had a 19a and up to date appraisal. If not contact me as I can help deal with the insurance company to get a proper value. BTW a fire extinguisher would have done zero for that fire...they run out very quickly...ask me how I know.
I would get a boxster over the Z4, just saying.

Yup, I had 19a and got a decent settlement, thanks Danny. You are right about the fire extinguisher, a guy came by in a truck with one and offered to give it a try but I didn't want him to take the risk, especially after the power steering reservoir erupted...scary stuff

Couple of weeks ago, my wife wrote off her DD, the first car she learned to drive stick in, and a car she had quite an emotional attachment with.

Making lemonade from lemons, she upgraded from a MINI Cooper to a Z4. Couldn't be happier, driven everyday since with the top down, despite near freezing temps. Point being, use this as an opportunity to get something you enjoy even more. Test drive a bunch of options in your price range, and move on.

More than anything, glad that you and your property are OK.

Cosmo's travails show that it's possible to recover, so I hope the same for you.

Painfull to see but most importantly you are physically unhurt. Hopefully you'll find some "motoring- joy" again, soon.

That's scary stuff. Glad you made it out safely though. Also vote Boxster S over Z4, 2004 and newer.

That sucks. But it's just stuff. Stuff can be replaced.
Lots of sweat equity in there. I can appreciate that.
Agreed on the fire extinguisher being of little use.
Best step back, take some photos. Keep others away.
Let professionals deal with the inferno.
Glad you had agreed upon value for your insurance.
Take note, others.... If your paying $200 a year for your classic coverage. Check the small print, and don't be upset. Otherwise, get your classic appraised and have a value written in your policy.
