the problem with these faults is you tinker with one thing think its solved and it recurs again. cps, maf, etc etc etc

heres my suggestion to all those with a non start issue. when you do get it started...go into engine bay and try to stall it. how? jiggle wires especially the fuel injector harness.

if the fuel injector harness has an internal short it will cut power to all 8 cylinders.
= no start as well.

my solution---rewire the fuel injector harness on the bank which was shorted or do both banks.

Next update, this will be the last!!!
It has taken a while because when it starts, it doesn't have a problem and when there is a chance to look for the fault, it will likely start.
Finally it had a row of non starts, so it's been easier. Following a logical fault path, has taken us all the way to the Tacho, which, as stated earlier does wild things during a non start crank, like reading 6500 rpm on crank. Disconnected the Tacho and it has started every single time now for about a month. Next step is to remove the cluster and have the instrument guy look for an actual fault in the Tacho.
Fingers crossed.

Well! Maybe this time?
I've just got the car back from the workshop where it's been since before Christmas and it hasn't failed after them driving it for 2 weeks, every day.
Despite having the ECUs checked, there appears to have been an issue with the ignition trigger for the igniters. Some components in the ECU were replaced and the boards resoldered and it starts every time now.
Here's hoping?

Nope, it wasn't that!
Turns out to be the alarm [immobiliser] module.
The current supply for the EZF unit relay goes through another relay inside the alarm module and this was 'dicky'.
All back together now and it's been starting and running like it should.
Here's hoping!

Might close this thread as it's still going fine with the repaired immobiliser unit.
