I just stumbled over a difference between the drawings in the partslist and the WSM. The springs for the brakes shoes appear to be mounted differently in the PET than in the WSM.
If I look at the exploded view drawing in the WSM Vol.4 repairgroup 46 page 13, I see the full length spring mounted on the adjuster side. The spring with the straight piece in the middle is mounted on the front side (the side that is actuated by the cable).
If I look at the PET drawing, the springs are swithched. The full length spring is on the actuated side and the spring with the straight piece in the middel is mounted on the adjustable side.
I folowed the WSM because I thought that the spring was double acting as a means to prevent the adjuster from turning by itself, cuased by vibration.
Looking up pictures of the mechanical brakes on the www it appears that the correct position is the one pictured in the WSM.
Is this assumption correct?
