Those ¥%#>£^* band clamps for the )( x pipe
I've been harboring major resentment towards these band clamps that joint the after market cats to the stock mid section. No amount of stepped bands or alumized tape is satisfactory.
Local muffler place wanted $200 for fab'ing up a section to mate to the cats. (Note the forward section where the X pipe meets the cats works fine.). This set my budget to beat.
I went cheap and got a HF flux core welder. 90 amp was $89 today with coupon. A few suggested mods include better clamp, name brand wire (Lincoln) and insuring 0.030 wire feed is correct.
Pretty easy to weld once your prep is done. Pics below:

Mine kept sliding apart...Local muffler shop welded the end of the cats that kept coming apart on mine for $25. Think it was the exhaust pipe end not the x-pipe end.
