RMB is on!

RMB is on!
Hi guys!
I've been offline for a while and during that time I've had the time to put on the RMB (Friday).
With the help of fellow rennlister Graham_Mitchell we did the switch in less that 45 minutes from the muffler to the RMB.
This should've been a factory option, not even close to what I'd call to loud. I like it a lot except for that the black paint did get some bubbles after a couple of hours drive..
I can't really feel that much of a difference performance wise but the sound is great.
Oh, and it's a unit from 928international. Thanks guys!
I also had an encounter with a Lambo Murcielago on my way home today, damn those things are fast..

I cheated, I just cut both mufflers off my car. The 16V with stock manifolds and CATS isn't too lout either.

I was just thinking that.. Those 250 extra ponies in teh Lambo sure made a difference.. And those wide tires kicked up a lot of dirt on my car when he took off...
It was a nice feeling to try and catch up to hiom instead of all the ricers who try and get a race all of the time otherwise though.

hey erik,
thanks for the pics - the ring looks almost as busy as the m25 around london!
as for the rmb, i can only say that whilst driving there is negligible difference from stock. discernable but not significant in terms of volume - slightly louder. i am sure you will agree that the stock sound level is nothing to worry about and with the rmb it is only a subtle increase. as for the tone, no comparison! i smiled like a kid when i first heard it!

All,
I, too, like the RMB sound.
However, even at my age of advanced decreptitude with accompanying loss , or degradation of various sections of the hearing range/chart I can tell you that it is louder.
sHARk ***** that we/you are, I just know that we can't help a slow wind out thru the gears and more than likely you are also enjoying the attention you get when hitting an off ramp or approaching a stop sign/light and backing off while downshifting. This is especially true of us auto owners.
I agree that there is no appreciable gain/loss in power but for Christ's sake they are louder.
Enjoyably so, but louder none the less.

Sure it's louder, but not by very much. Inside the car it's hardly noticeable and the tire sounds still takes over in highway speeds - just a bit more clear tone on the music when mashing the throttle.
On the outside it's more noticeable. I was quite surprised that the difference wasn't bigger.

Anders,
I agree that the interior noise isn't nasty, I like mine.
But, I haven't been on a road trip since the install -50 -100 miles max.-.
This Friday I'll be heading down to the Austin/San Antonio area -5/6 hours- ,I'll know for sure then.
I let My ex-Marine, Vette' driving buddy roar down the road in Pattycakes to determine for myself how loud is LOUD.
The first time he didn't release the hand brake -he was a Marine, Right?-
and believe me it was Nascar loud. I went back to the shop and had them put a cylindrical Thrush pipe between the Hi-Flow Cat and the muffler.
I put Rusty behind the wheel again, it was still loud, but a nice loud....
There are supposed to be 39 sHARKs at the 3rd Coast Gathering and there should be 2/3 RMB's so I'll get some more audibles and let you know ...

Next week I’m getting my mandrel bent exhaust system fabricated, and I’m hoping it will sound at least as good as your’s as I really liked the sound when I had the same setup consisting of cats, small GT resonators, and RMB. It had an excellent tone without being loud at all as you’ve stated, an endearing quality when trying NOT to be noticed by local law enforcement.
My new exhaust will consist of:
Ott x-pipe, dual 2.5” piping, 2 DynoMax Ultra Flo’s where the resonator’s reside, more 2.5” piping, one DynoMax with dual 2.5” inlet/outlets where the stock muffler resides, and finally a tail pipe to be determined.
Dyno results to follow soon.
