Default Was this model a real car?

This has to be one of the coolest racing spec 928's I've seen in my search for some good race inspired designs.

Does anyone know about this car? Was it a real race car? I seem to remember someone re-creating this styling on their rebuild, but cant remember the URL reference.

I'm particularly interested in knowing a bit more about the front spoiler and the rear wing.

Sorry I can't answer your question but what I remember very well is that I did that exact scale model when I was 16!

This was my first "contact" with the 928.
That brings me good memories...

I remember that I bought a second kit after I screwed something in the first kit...

I did that model too when I was about 13 or 14. I loved it! I recently found it in my parent's attic (with a few other Porsche Models that I built) but the tires were all melted and sticky. Lots of parts missing also. I would like to have that same model again!

Hatch glass louvers, the wide side not-script "Porsche" stripe (so 914 reminiscent) and the white-lettered tires seem so typical of some 70's US not-so-hot rods. I like to think the 928 styling is more timeless, but those are certainly period-specific details.

Are those models kits still available?

Sometimes they show up on E-bay. I put mine together around 1980 or 81 I think.

I really like it. I too remember seeing it.

It has an authenticity about it.
