Default 1988 928S4 A/T Project for sale or part out.

Brought in last week from California. Trying to decide if I want to flip it as a daily driver or part it out. Have a couple of folks lined up for parts, I think I'll try selling it as first.

1988 with 171k (odometer still works). I bought it as a non-runner. Had it running about an hour after I got it off the truck. All it needed was a LH computer and a fresh battery. Idles very smooth. Drove it and the transmission shifting is perfect. All I have noticed is that it runs a little warm, the ABS light came on while during the test drive and it suffers magic blower syndrome. A/C does not work. The A/C clutch did not kick on but the fans started up with the A/C on.

Body: original paint - what's left of it. No evidence of any bodywork. All the stickers are still there including the door jamb. Front bumper needs some love - strip and paint - just like the rest of the car. There are a couple of small - quarter to half dollar sized dents - perfect for dent removal.

Interior - Dash has a couple of small cracks at the vents, pod has a single crack on the center of it. This car comes with blue 12 way heated seats with draped leather(rare?) the light grey piping. Door cards are in very nice shape except for some of the carpet drooping. All the door speak covers are there (removed for safe keeping) The rear quarter panels are trash. The steering wheel leather cover coming off.

As mentioned above the odometer reads 171~. All the warning lights work - even the PRND32 indicator light all work!

Engine bay is dusty, but tidy. Even the hood insulation is all there. There is a small oil drip from the rear of the engine - I assume this is the rear main seal. No other fluid leaks are present. There is presence of oil near the oil filler so a new gasket will be needed.

Comes with the original red spare, spare tire cover sans the fun and air compressor, too.

Comes with non-alarm hatch lock.

Looking for $5750 if you supply a battery and LH computer. $6750 with my computer and new battery. Toss in another $1000 and I will do a timing belt and water-pump service and fuel lines (not Greg Brown unless you provide them.)

I have a set of good used rear quarter panels in black leather is you want the added to the purchase.

I have tried to present the car as best I can. Feel free to ask questions and request additional pictures.

If you don't sell and do part it I'd take a look at buying the seats. Could ship them on my UPS account.

Default Let the parting out begin

I have decided to part of this car. The fog lights and door cards are spoken for.

I can't help but wonder how well that 5.0L would fit in an earlier year model.

Kevin--

I can use some console and shifter parts. Specifically, I'm looking for the accordian/tamber section, and the shift handle. Pm with cost/logistics.

Our esteemed moderator Erik was posting questions about the shift damaged handle lever, so the pieces in between mine could go to him.

Dr Bob,

I just ordered shifter handle & boot from Jäger. Once I get them installed, I'll send you the accordion boot & shifter handle free. The handle is broken where it screws in.

Looking for the accordian/tamber section that slides fore and aft with the shifter. So no need for the boot. I already have a handle with the screw collar broken. Might be interesting to disassemble your broken one, build a 3d printer model or fit a sleeve inside. I appreciate the help!

I'll pm details when I get on my computer.

Crap, too slow. I need that part too so I'll just have to put the Jaeger leather one one and call it custom.

I have the old accordion I took off my 90 when I replaced it with a new one. They are available through Toger and not that expensive as I recall, but mine is available if anybody wants.

Kevin,
What shape is the rear bumper cover in and would you be willing to ship to Denver?
Thanks
