Default Pod Help

Hey Guys,

Starting to remove the pod and noticed the left side bolt (RHD) just literally fell out. Upon closer inspection the thread in the pod nut is basically gone. You can push the bolt into and out of the thread. I was thinking of re-tapping with a a/f thread slightly above the metric thread in there, as there is really no excess metal to drill and tap. Anybody repaired one these before?

Cheers

Which left side bolt?

The short one that holds the lower cover on or the long one in back (towards the windshield) that holds the cluster?

The long one on the left side on mine was stripped out. Someone had used some sort of tarry black crap to keep the bolt from dropping out. Don't ya just love PO hack repairs?

I just used a helicoil. It worked fine. I've had the pod in and out several times since the repair with no problems.

Cheers Joe. I was a bit worried there might not be enough material there but evidently there is. I'll give it a whirl.
