Default Best options for shops that test/rebuild KJet WURs and FDs ?

Hi ! 1981 928s euro CIS 5spd lsd

I hope everybody is having a super weekend.

Quick question, please;

what are the best current options for shops that test/rebuild CIS KJet components?

For instance, my fuel distributor and warm up regulator... is it best to just send in a core and get a rebuilt unit?

Any experiences you might care to share?

I don't have anything in the way of test gauges, etc, and I am looking for a less owner-intensive-fix for this particular system.

As always, thanks so much for your help and suggestions.

Dan

Jim might be able to help, has been focusing on the early/CIS niche.

http://www.928classics.com/services.html

Wouldn't be surprised if 928 motorsports and/or 928sRus can help too. I think 928Intl
There are a couple folks rebuilding the FDs on Ebay and there is a Delorean place that works with the components as well and can source some parts/components that are getting scarce.

Dan and Jim,

Contacted Jim at 928classics.com and just received message today that he will not be rebuilding anymore WUR and FD due to their time consumption.

However, from earlier rennlist search, people from either 928 or 911 forum have recommended a place call: www.CISFlowTech.com.

I received an email response from them a month ago with the following info and pricing:
"FD would be $ 475.00 and WUR $ 275.00 plus shipping. You really need to talK TO LARRY 251-929-3771".

I will be calling them as soon as I receive my '80 euro engine hopefully in the next 1-2 weeks.

Hope this helps
-Hoi

Delorean place:

Edit: I"ve purchased parts here, but have not utilized their services IIRC.

Actually, I did buy a NEW WUR back in the day...a Euro one to boot...and found it was wildly mis-calibrated right out of the box.
Tried to get it into spec, finally did send it somewhere for a professional 'rebuild' calibration. Don't recall whether it was these folks or not...but they have been in business a loong time.

That's a shame that Jim has decided to stop the rebuilds. He did both my WuR and FD this spring. The results were fantastic. I now have a reliable daily driver.

It's stored for 10 months out the year. I fired it up yesterday. Idled perfectly, and drove like it was never stored.

I can't compliment his work highly enough..

CIS Flowtech has taken care of the fuel distributors for both of my 1979 928s, did a great job.

Default Special T

The former owner of my 80 Euro had substituted a WUR from another Mercedes. After a year or so of trying to figure out my KJet problems, I finally was able to narrow it down to the wrong WUR! Using the WUR curves specific to the 80 Euro from the FWSM, Special T rebuilt my WUR to the Porsche Euro specs. Worked great and the engine ran much better. (BTW, I replicated the curves in an Excel spreadsheet for them and mailed with the WUR)

I think the turnaround was less than two weeks including shipping.

Also, they are good source for K-Jet parts.

I now work with John at the Delorean shop local to me and stock the rebuilt WUR's and Distributors. I also sell similar for other CIS cars as well.

Roger, does that mean you are selling rebuilt WURs and FDs? Obviously with a core charge? How much would be for an euro CIS WUR and FD?

thanks

Hi Roger !!
I was eagerly waiting to see your response concerning the core charge, etc.
Do you generally prefer to just receive the cores prior to shipping the rebuilt units?

Thanks !!!!!

Dan
