Is there a difference in Granatrot Metallic and Garnet Red Metallic?
Hi guys,
I found out that my 86.5 is actually Granatrot metallic instead of the black it's currently painted. Since I was planning on repainting it anyway I was wondering if there's a difference in Granatrot and Garnet. The paint codes are different for the two; Granatrot is listed as L822 and Garnet is LM3Y. Some sites list them as the same color so I just wanted to make sure I get the correct paint before committing.
Thanks for all the help,
-Davis

Welcome Davis!
That's a good question, since "Granatrot" is simply German for "Garnet Red" and one would think that the two were the same. That said...
One may be an earlier version of the color and the other the later version?
One may be the euro version of the color and the other the US market version?

They actually have a paint code for an english-named paint? Even my US model silver car says "Silver Metallic" in German...

Thanks for the warm welcome! I picked up three 928s so I'll probably be here rather frequently. After looking at paint codes from PPG/BASF they show Garnet Red as 822/LM3Y so I can only imagine they are one in the same.
Thanks again for all the input
