TL;DR: Magic in the air. Disclaimer: I have got the dials now.

So, I will do the dials thing for sure but my stubborness (is something Erkka hates) drove me to look at the original S4 5-8 exhaust cam and found something interesting:



So, the hexagon section of the cam (which is used to turn cam with tool) has one corner that matches the marker on the cam. So, I checked my marks on the currently installed one:


And what do you know, the corner matches the outer edge of the cam. So, time to use the 9226 tool for a run:


Well how about that. This seems to match. Next I'll do the dials. This was just academic exercise.
