If you work on a 928 long enough you will eventually have two of them. I looked at my parts pile that I am ready to take to the recycle place, and this is a very true statement....

Do you mean two whole cars, or enough parts to approximate a car? I've owned my 88 928 for on month and I nearly have a whole extra interior and three sets of wheels. What have I started.

Yes, extra wing, extra console insert and arm rest, radio, three sets of wheels (not counting what is on the car), etc, etc. After ~ 20 years of ownership, one does accumulate "stuff".

Bought a set of 928 S spares on ebay over the weekend, think it's the sellers attempt to get rid of loads of random bits & pieces. Didn't cost much but it'll get added to my already abundant collection!
Try having 3 different cars! ;-) I have a tow hitch & roof rack for my FTO and will prob never use them, bought because they're rare & might not get another chance to pick them up!

Enough parts to build a second car.... Yea amazing what is in my boxes, and yes keep everything. My early 911 went crazy, and now folks are asking stupid money for parts... You know things are going to get crazy when Porsche Classic buys stuff up.

You are supposed to have more than one 928. It's a law isn't it?

You work on one and drive the other. When the one you are driving breaks, you order parts and you work on that one while you are driving the one you were originally working on.

You should always have at least one 928 to drive.

I'll soon have enough parts to build a completely clapped out 928 :-)

Yes ... I have a third one, I'm sure, on shelves in my parts room.

Some 928 parts rules
#928 ... you can never have too many parts.
#928A ... they're handy to have even if you never use them.
#928C ... if you throw any parts out, then you'll need them the next day.

It's cheaper to get shelves than to get 928 parts.

I am in need of the little 3mm screw that holds the door release trim for the inside of the car. Anyone got one they would like to ship me?

I'm starting to think that "Model Year 86.5" actually means a 1986 car with another half of a car in the trunk.

And here I am thinking that I was the only one constantly getting chit from my wife for hoarding spare parts all over (2 rads, starter, alternator, ignition cables, intake etc.).

This reminds me of a different car that I had back in my youth. I used to own an 87 Merkur Xr4ti some time ago. Loved that little turbo car and it surprised many a 924/944 owner in its day, it was so much fun to drive. But by the time I got around to selling, I considered putting a hitch on it just to pull the trailer full of parts. Ah "LOVE", I have known thee.
