Double check, something you will find valuable as you get older, anyhow, passenger side **** retainer...machine screw with small lock washer, drivers side **** retainer...lock-nut and flat-washer.

Even checked #613's doors...and they are the same.

I picked up the plated and refinished bits today. Rob was at my house so quick to pick it up I thought he was sittin' on a spring! I barely saw the bits, so I hope he posts pics soon!

What I saw was very exciting!

It seemed like a lot more plating than what I sent, the platers didn't pack it very efficiently:

Then it became clear why. Each nut bolt and washer is laid out individually. This is about 2/3 of it. Anyone got 2000 eggs they need to store?

Bigger pieces:

I wish we had a company around here which can do this kind of plating. Rob, how much did you have to pay for the plating job?

Looking good. Recognize the majority of those parts, only the round things to the right of the power steering pump have got me stumped...maybe something to do with the headlight buckets?

Let the games begin!

^^^ steering coupler heat shield. I'm trying to figure out what that "shelf" looking thing on the back left by the CIS lines is...

Brian- those are the mounting brackets for the rear hub e-brake mechanism. And the 5-pound shelf is the AC compressor bracket.

Painted bits came back from the painter as well:

Starting to piece stuff together by system. I'm pretty good at S4s, this took a bunch of looking at disassembly photos. Gonna be interesting to see how many parts are left over when we're done.

There is one in Turku (Åbo to swedes) Finland we have used. Prep work before plating has huge effect on end result.

My goodness, I just got momentarily breathless!

Question, these plated parts look great, but I recall reading elsewhere on the list that the plating does not last as long as the original plating? Is that true? Is it heat cycle dependant?

I don't know what the main factor is in the rate of fading of plating, not sure if it's heat cycling, ambient humidity, or ???

William's stuff is yellow cad, vs. the yellow zinc I have gotten in the past. Will see how it holds up, but it is pretty now. I must be part conquistador, can't get enough of the gold:

Seriously, cad plating in California? Cool!! That's what the factory plating was, and tends to hold up better than zinc.

Here are original cad plated parts, definitely holds up. This is on my 91 GT which had been stored in temp control garage in New England for 19 years prior to my getting it. The cad plated parts really add to the overall presentation of the car.

For years, here in CA specifically, I have seen restored cars with zinc chromate in lieu of Cad which is hard/impossible to get done. I don't like the look, you can tell the difference from a mile away, and in the end it is not correct anyway.

These types of challenges are my cup of tea. After lots of phone calls, referrals, and red herrings, I discovered what some of you may already know: Cad plating is still the best for aviation application.

So there are platers with an "Aviation waiver" that still do Cad plating, and aerospace is still, surprisingly, an industry in CA.

What I found is that they are more expensive, but certainly cheaper than shipping out of state to get the work done.

We found a shop with a high attention to detail and was a perfect match for what we are trying to accomplish.

I haven't received my bill, there are still some outstanding items that I hope to get by week's end.

William -- Are you having the work done at Burbank Plating? That was the logical local candidate before we found poitical and economic asylum in Oregon. Was local to us when we were in Glendale.

Erkka, there is a very local company which are doing many different types of plating. I can speak to them, they have two separate plants in our two surrounding towns.
