Add tape to make index marks for alignment in the middle of each edge and near the corners. Place liner in hood recess with backing still in place. Put similar alignment marks on bits of tape on the hood, so the liner sits relaxed and square in the recess. Now use tape to hold one end of the pad in place, and start peeling and pressing the backing from the other half, S L O W L Y so you can manage the stretching of the foam before you place and press. Make sure your alignment marks are still good after every couple inches, by laying the liner in the recess and checking that things still match. Work from the middle towards the edges, without stretching the foam.
Repeat for the other half of the liner.
I often use wax paper as a slip-sheet, especially handy when working with contact adhesive. That way I can get everything lined up with the wax paper underneath, then slowly withdraw the wax paper to expose the adhesive in the middle of the pad to the adhesive in the middle of the hood. Press the pad in place as you go, so no bubbles, stretched or crooked sections.
Repeat for the other half of the liner.

Original Porsche insulation pad is $94.75 and comes with the adhesive backing. Just vacuum off the old powder and wipe over the old adhesive with white spirits. Apply the new pad and you are good to go. No need to remove the old adhesive as it acts like a primer.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?
