Actually Jerry, YOU are the class act; your labor, cost of materials and shipping all for nothing.
Yesterday I went to a nearby Lowe's and on my way out I saw the Blood Donor bus.
I thought, why the hell not so I went over and gave a pint.
Shows, your generosity is contagious cause that's how I'm repaying you.
God Bless!
Thanks, Shev. Your are too kind. And thanks for paying it forward with the blood. All of this is what makes this 928 community so tight. I love it.
Thanks, Gary, for your report. I hope that the sticker works out better this time for you. I didn't notice your report becuse I was kind of wrapped up in the spring sale parts thread. Let me know it I can help any further.
Sticker worked perfectly and is installed. I used a sharp knife to initiate lifting/separation of the first corner from the backing. Thanks for your contribution to these and other items.
Shims arrived here in sweden on friday afternoon. Just superb, cannot thank you enough. My garage is too tight by the sides, cannot open the doors all the way. I will mount these outside on the driveway when the snow melts. Should be just a few weeks away...
The shims arrived well so huge thanks and wanted to let you know how grateful I am for what you do for the 928 community! Keep it up!
Not sure where to start in order to lift the bottom half of my passenger door but I will figure it out...Any suggestions welcome! :-)
Warm regards,
George,
First, look at the door as closed and see along the bottom of it what the gap is and measure the gap at the bottom in front. It should be about 3/16 of an inch I think. Then while looking closely at the bottom of the door at the rear slowly open the door to see if it is dragging on the sill and also dropping further from where it is closed. That will tell you just how much it needs to be lifted.
Next open the door fully and look at the hinge arrangement. It is not intuitive. The hinges are mounted inside a pocket welded to the A post of the car and bolted to the inside of the rear of that pocket. Then decide how much lift you need. Look at the handwritten table in the picture posted just above. I do not send that with most of the shims. It will tell you how much lift you can get with any one or combination of the shims up to a total of nearly 3/8 of an inch. I doubt that anyone will ever need the maximum lift. Pick out the shim or shims needed and then remove the bolts from the top hinge and see if you can slip the shims in between the hinge and the face of the pocket it is bolted to. Then put the bolts back in and snug them up; then close the door to see if it is still in or about far enough then carefuly open it again and tighten the bolts.
I have never actually done this so you might need to be somewhat creative if you find that something else is needed to be done in the process.

I sent a set of shims to one of you guys in Florida, but the package came back marked "wrong Address." Let's try again. Use my email if you like: jfeather@bresnan.net.
