Default clearance problem with cat delete y pipe

Finally got around to bolting up my new stainless y pipe from the outfit in Salt Lake City (Forgot their name) problem is the cross member won't fit back in place as the diameter of the pipes are larger than stick. Is there any harm is cutting and or beating the cross member into submission to get the necessary clearance?

Also, any idea what size the holes are for the o 2 sensors? Mine are screwed into the exhaust manifolds and I need to block off the holes.

Thanks, still waiting on the Borla exhaust to show up.

no harm, no foul. unless we are talking over 1/4", that might be a bit much. i trimmed mine to make roomful the V-band flanges.

WBO2 bungs are 1" OD, roughly 5/8 ID. Sensor thread pitch is M18 x 1.5.

Ok thank you!

I may have to do more than 1/4" of cutting but I should be able to weld in a patch to maintain some integrity with the cross member.

And, thanks for the sensor thread pitch that was just what I needed!

If it is an early car - 78/79 - get rid of the cross brace - Porsche did.

Roger, is there a replacement for it? Interested in changing it since I have the engine out.

On my early 78 cars with the Y pipe I removed the cross brace. Porsche only fitted it in 78 and removed it in 79. They made no other changes to compensate for it that I am aware of.

Oh! It is an early car, a '78.

Good info to have, will save me a lot of time in trying to cut and massage the cross brace to make it fit.

I was kind of wondering what purpose it served as it wasn't really supporting anything.

Thanks! Made my day!
