I have a 1988 S4 that is currently silver with burgundy interior. The option sticker next to the spare tire well is faded beyond readability. Is there any way to determine the original build colors for paint, trim, and carpet? And, how do I tell if it came with leather or vinyl? This fall I plan to have interior work done and want to know the originality before I start.
My VIN is WP0JB0924JS860962.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't had the car for 27 years of its life so I don't know. Even if it hasn't been changed, having the color codes and material type is useful when discussing jobs with paint and interior folks.
I plan to go to the Porsche dealer later this week to see what I can find out.

they will give you the name of the color. But for the paint, a paint store will give many variations of that color, so youll have to pick the shade you want. There is no formula for interior color. If you want some of the parts recolored or leather replaced, youll just have to match every item togather , probibly with leather/vinyl color. You will end up doing this by finding hidden pieces of material and starting from that as a sample
