Default this goes to ???????

Hey there, I was just snooping around under the hood, figured I would freshen the MAF while I was in there removing a couple of VERY old carcasses, vintage no doubt, and I noticed this 3 pin connector in a bracket. There was nothing connected to the other end. What is i, and what should connect to it? I searched all around the area and cannot find its mate.

I'm thinking TDC indicator? Is it running?

Is that the female side of the plug just below? Or is that for the IAT?

Im pretty sure the pins indicate that you are missing part of it.
IIRC there is a redundant/unused crank trigger too, a vestige of factory fault testing apparatus, maybe that's it.

That is a broken Crank Position Sensor connector. The plug is below it. They fall apart with age. You must have dislodged it.

You will need to replace the sensor. The car will not start now. It may run if you plug it back together, but it may cut out.

Your picture is 70-billion pixels wide and since Rennlist so helpfully scales text smaller so that the picture will fit, or makes near-infinite horezontal scroll bars... I cannot read the text of your post.

From the thread title and picture... that is your crank position sensor's dead connector. Your S3 will not start. Follow the connector to the sensor, pull it, replace it. Or read up on fixing the shielded connector and hope for the best.

Check your fuel return lines too. Looks like they may be due for replacement.

Listen to this guy ^^ he's smaahht!
;-)

TDC, CPS, whaatevah, I tanked on the acronymn.

And note that in addition to the 928 Part #, there is a 944# that functions the same, has a longer wire harness and costs much less-- last I checked.

I discovered the other end but you guys were too quick. It was right there. I checked it before I posted but I was afraid to pull to hard, it was wedged in and I thought it went to something else. I must have bumped it while exhuming the little mummies. As far as pics. go, I can just say I've been lucky in the past and have no idea what I did. I'll look again at those fuel lines ! thanks guys

Ok since you found the other side,
what you now have to do is carefully remove the wire from the connector housing,
then with a pin gently push the ridge s from the side of the connector,
this should push the broken part out of the connector housing so it will then mate to a new CPS.

NOTE make sure to put a towel down under the connector so you dont drop the metal spring clip or the broken plastic and then refit the metla spring clip

Get Greg Brown fuels lines in while you're there. Roger has them.

Well I just pulled the part, and the plastic bits are very fragile. Time to place an order adding to my list. BTW I looked at the fuel lines and they look very good, probably my crappy pic. unless your eagle eyes spotted something I didn't notice! Well the MAF looks better anyhow.

Unless your fuel lines have been replaced and you have documentation, do them. They can "look" good until you pull them off and see that they are cracked to hell, especially when you bend them a bit. If the plastic bits are crispy (yours are) then the fuel lines are in similar shape.

Who's gonna post a pic of a 928bq due to old fuel lines?

Oh, cha-ching!!!

And here goes the WYAIT slope...heater valve...and associated hoses....and the neck for the hose, maybe....and then anything you want plated to look purty....and oh, some folks found that minor vac leak at throttle plate..and then intake could be p/c..and injectors could be cleaned or upgraded...then dampers and regulator 'cause who wants to go back in there...all the MAF sealing o-rings...vac lines..oi.

Srsly though, I agree that whatever solution you go with, fuel lines back there are a good precautionary step to take.

Is a very good precautionary step to take.
Will need a new/different FPR with a threaded 'screw on' attachment point. The replacement will be a single hose that bypasses the metal union, and directly connects to the fuel line deep by the firewall. The line between the regulator and dampener is a plug in.
No barbecue pics.
