Ya done the right thing. If anyone here is old enough to remember the Kellison kit car, I used to draw fantasy pix along those lines when I was in grade school. First time the 928 caught my eye was seeing the mechanical cutaway pic showing the mechanicals. -got my interest with that. Then, about the same time period I noticed a blonde delivering **** videos to a local store, driving a pale blue 928. Looked like a beater and I felt sorry for it. -nah, didn't buy it but a few years later saw one for sale in the local paper. -snapped that baby up after one look and one demo ride.

Best year and by far the best color combination. Welcome to the group!
Invest now in a Rennlist membership. Even though we own 'perfect' 928's, there's still a lot to learn as your stewardship period progresses. For those few membership dollars, the pop-ups disappear, you get picture priv's and the ability to add your car info to a signature line.

Will look into the membership - seems worth it.
Dr Bob-I appreciate all of the kind words from you and the others about my car! I'm partial to the color combo too! I looked until I found an S4 in this combo!
I keep hearing that '89 is a choice year. What is it that's special about the '89s over the other years? Could it be the digital information system and no air bags? Also heard that the engines had some beefier parts?
When I was looking, I was kind of hoping for a 90-91 with air bags and the slightly modernized dash set-up. I thought it made the car look newer, and liked the idea of the safety of the air bags. My friend who has been working on Porsches for 30 years told me I'm better off with the '89. He said the air bags on these (vintage of) cars can be problematic and difficult to service.
I'd love to know what anyone has to add!
Thanks,
Brian

Thank you! The car has had a complete intake refresh. The oil filler neck was leaking and oil was dripping down the front of the engine. So the intake refresh was the result of that! The old coating on the intake was coming off in sheets, so while it was off I refinished it. The PO took VERY good care of the car, but pretty much stopped driving it and spending money on it. I've put quite a few bucks in it since I've owned it but it's a great car worth the work and investment!

I've only owned my 928 for 6-7 months and I have in it, a little over half of what I had in the Delorean.

[QUOTE=Porsche985;12554688]Hello all, this is my first post since taking the plunge! I am relatively new to the Porsche hobby, but not to the old car hobby. I recently liberated myself from Delorean ownership, and the 928 seems all too easy by comparison. I'm really having a lot of fun with it, and I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop...
My story starts in the early to mid 1980s, when unlike today's kids, I had every exotic car poster I could find hanging on my bedroom walls. Other outlets for my obsession included Road & Track magazine, Car and Driver, and any other magazines catering to exotic cars. Movies like Risky Business, Weird Science, Back to the Future, and Cannonball run also helped maintain my fix in the days before the internet.

For me as well (all still true today) except for the rents ever buying anything new let alone a Porsche (wait that still applies too). Here's to making up for lost time!
Congrats on the 928, can't wait to see pics.
