1981 928s fuel Injectors... to rebuild or replace ? Your opinion?
Hi !
1981 928s euro 5spd
engine out staring at me on the stand lol.
I am looking at eight very forlorn and depressed fuel injectors,
I understand that some folks have replaced with a M+B injector that is shorter?
And others have sent injectors to "witch hunter"? for rebuild?
I'd apreciate your experiences with this part of the project, how did you decide which path to take? Is there anything specific that made you choose rebuild/ or replace versus the other ?
Sorry i can not be of a lot of help on this one as it comes down to personal preference. I have had good luck with rebuilt injectors but again, it really boils down to your personal preference. Here is a link to some of the injector options that we offer. If you have any questions or if i can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to ask.
Oh no worries ! !
everybody thinks the 924 944 and 928 are the same car anyway....
The "928 is the one with the 6 cylinder ! ! !" (referencing another thread here )
Dan-
I sent mine from my '84 out to Witch Hunter Performance 5 years ago. They came back pretty clean and tested with the results. I installed them several years ago but still haven't finished my "engine" project. I cannot confirm or deny any positive or negative outcomes from their cleaning until the day comes that I get that car back together again...
I hope this greatly helps your decision making process.
uneekone I would suggest that you remove the injectors and put some MMo into them,
then test them with a 9 volt battery .
Then put them back into the bags and leave them there till your ready to install the injectors.
Pretty sure OP has a CIS car, so IMHO best bet would be the shorter brass MB injectors. Several users have posted satisfaction with them, nobody has posted problems with them. The originals are pretty much unobtainable now, or $$$$. Keep an eye on fleabay though - I picked up 4 new originals a few years ago quite cheaply. A good 911 shop who knows CIS should be able to clean and test the injectors - my local one did it for me early in the car's time with me, failed 4, under $100.

Please forgive my ignorance but what is MMo? What am I looking for when I run a 9V battery across the leads? I installed them and they are dry- do you still think it's worth uninstalling them and rebagging them? What issues do you perceive happening if I don't do anything?
I put the MB injectors in my Ferrari and they work fine. Most rebuild places won't touch CIS injectors. I think Sean has a home-brewed CIS injector cleaner and tester. Might contact him and ask.
